THOMAS HENRY TRINDER

I always wondered if the claims of our family being related to the famous music hall commedian were true or just wish full thinking. My father's cousin, Sadie assured me they were true and that she had even known him visit Shilton on a couple of occasions to visit his Grandmother. I decided to find a copy of his birth certificate, which would indicate who his parents were along with the place of his birth. Tommy Trinder was born Thomas Edward Trinder on 24 March 1909 at 25 Wellfield Road, Streatham, London. He was the first born of Thomas Henry Trinder from Shilton, Oxfordshire. Thomas Henry Trinder (Jnr) had left Shilton for the bright lights of London at the turn of the century. He was married aged 21, to Jennie Harriet Georgina Mills, on the 25 October 1907 at St Mathews Church, Brixton. On the marriage certificate, his occupation is given as "L.G.V Motorman". These are the only pictures I have of Thomas Henry Trinder They went on to have 3 more children, Jennie Bertha.M born in 1911, George William born in 1913 and Frederick C born some years later in 1922. Jennie married Peter Knight in 1932 and they had one son, Peter (Junior). Unfortunately Jennie died in 1937, so Peter junior ended up being adopted by his Uncle Tommy and brought up by his Grandparents, he even changed his name to Trinder. Thomas Henry Trinder's address is given on a death announcement card for Jennie as, 167 Castle Road, Greenford, Middlesex. Sadley, George William also died at the young age of 24 in 1937, both he and Jennie are burried at Greenford Cemetary.
